Jamie Oliver's Chili Con Carne

On of the first things I learned how to make is chili. Mine is pretty simple-just beans and meat, with tomato sauce and spices. This was our first dive into Jamie's Food Revolution Cookbook, and looked like a good place to start.

Things that surprised me? It wasn't spicy at all. I doubled the chili powder and cumin, and I think I'd add a few hot chilis to the mix as well. Also, it wasn't very saucy, and I think I'd add another 14 oz of diced tomatoes to give it a little more juice. Otherwise, over rice and topped with cilantro, it was very delicious. Jake kept commenting on the Thai flavor it had and how it was totally unlike my chili; although we loved it! The recipe makes a lot, so you'll have some to freeze for another day.

Head on over to Jamie Oliver's site for the recipe...
